Boucle d'Or Afghan

Three Ravelers had a request for a translation of the directions for this KAL. Here is an English version for those interested thanks to my friend Sophie (paindepice on Ravelry).

Boucle d'Or is the French name of Goldilocks. We could call it The Goldilocks Afghan, however, we'll refer to it by its French name.

The directions will come one square at a time. The order in the squares may change in comparison to the French version, as I realise in doing the French version that the order I chose is not as logical as it seemed.

First of all, a garter stitch square and a stockinette stitch square.

Then squares including easy patterns which only involve knit and purl stiches. (squares 3,4,5,6,7)
Then squares that involve smocking stitches (squares  8 and 9)
Then lace patterns (squares  10,11,12)
Then cables (squares  13,14,15,16,17), for which double-pointed needles will be necessary.

And finally bobbles (squares  18,19,20)

The directions for the afghan border will be given the last week.

Feel free to change the number of squares for the afghan, or even change the patterns if one doesn't suit you, or should you like to repeat some squares.
Nothing is compulsory, the idea of this KAL is to have fun and show what a knitter can do with just some yarn and needles !

Pair of size US 7 (4.5mm) knitting needles
US 7 (4.5mm) double-pointed needles for cables

gauge
20 sts and 26 rows = 4” (10 cm) square measured over st st using US 7 (4.5mm) needles

finished measurements
17"x21" (25"x31", 49"x60") , 43cmx53 cm (63cmx78cm, 123cmx153cm)
